Let's talk about where good ideas actually come from. Archimedes had his in a bathtub. Newton took an apple to the skull. Every great idea I've ever had showed up somewhere inconvenient: the shower, the car, a bar napkin in a room I was supposed to have left an hour earlier. Nobody's eureka has ever RSVP'd.
You know where good ideas have never once shown up? A scheduled brainstorm. I've sat through a thousand of them. Beige walls, somebody guarding the thermostat like it's launch codes, and a whiteboard with SYNERGY ghosted under three erasings. Scheduling a brainstorm is like scheduling a sneeze. Good luck, and gesundheit. Be honest: when's the last time a conference room gave you goosebumps?
Epiphanies don't schedule themselves. So I'm creating a space for them to appear.
Here's the real story. Since 2023, Omythic and Makespace have been working out of the lower level of the Hughes Building at 209 E. Main Street in Louisville. We've been making magic down there the whole time. Strategy, brand work, shoots, sessions, and the best damn websites east of the Mississippi. And while we worked, we collected. Tools. Technology. Books, games, creative toys. Anything that lures a eureka moment out of hiding.
The haul so far: state-of-the-art video cameras. A space that converts into a full green-screen studio in about twenty minutes, so a client can walk in with an idea and walk out with footage. A 96-inch 8K TV, big enough to see your idea's pores. A wall-sized interactive vibe board. A Herman Miller conference table that seats ten, with the chairs to match, because breakthroughs run long and your spine shouldn't pay for them. A professional karaoke setup, because some breakthroughs require a microphone and zero dignity. My personal workspace hub sits in the middle of it all, and I've caught more than one client quietly measuring it for their own office. Flattery accepted. And more cool stuff is on the way.
Now the part I love. The whole room is modular. War room in the morning. Classroom by lunch. Studio set by two. Karaoke stage by whenever the breakthrough demands one. All of it in just over a thousand square feet, with room for future expansion. One room doing the work of five. My kind of employee.
So we're giving the room what it earned: its own name, its own brand, its own front door. The Epiphery. Epiphany plus periphery, because the best ideas don't live in the center of anything. They live at the edge, just past where most rooms stop looking. And get this: turn that plus 45 degrees and it becomes an X. Addition becomes multiplication. X marks the spot. I didn't plan that. I just refuse to waste it.
And don't you dare read coming soon as closed. The workshops already run in that room. Strategy sessions. Sales training. Creativity work. A session called FUYA, which stands for exactly what you hope it does. Companies book them today, with our crew, in that space. The transformation is addition, not delay.
The Epiphery is home base for the Omythic collective and Makespace, with Agency AEO in residence and Kokoon, our incubator, hatching inside it. Two floors up sits the Louisville Thoroughbred Society, where I hold a membership. Breakthrough downstairs, celebratory bourbon and cigars upstairs. The commute is one staircase.
