Branding

Identity Systems & Brand Architecture

A brand is not a logo. It is a promise, a position, and a point of view, made visible.

Over twenty years of building brands from the ground up. Not surface-level identity refreshes. Full-spectrum brand development, from naming and positioning to visual identity systems, voice architecture, and brand guidelines that actually get used.

The work spans luxury hospitality (21c Museum Hotels), heritage consumer brands (Louisville Slugger), global manufacturing (3M, Herman Miller), and founder-led startups that needed to punch above their weight from day one. Omythic currently ranks number one on Google for "branding agency": above the map, no paid ads. That is the brand doing its job.

Every brand engagement starts with the same question: what do you actually stand for? Not what you sell. Not what you do. What you stand for. Most companies cannot answer that clearly. That is where the work begins.

A brand without conviction is just a logo with anxiety. The brands that survive twenty years are the ones that were never trying to look current.

Deliverables

Process

Discovery

Deep interviews with founders, leadership, customers, and skeptics. We surface the truth nobody wants to say out loud, and we use it as the foundation.

Positioning

A single, defensible point of view in the market. Not three. Not five. One sentence that competitors cannot copy and customers cannot ignore.

Identity

Visual and verbal systems built around that position. Logo, type, color, voice, imagery, all answering to the same strategic brief.

Architecture

How sub-brands, products, and offerings relate. The rules that keep the brand coherent as the company grows.

Rollout

Guidelines that actually get used. Templates, training, governance. We hand the keys to your team, not a 200-page PDF nobody opens.

Selected work

21c Museum Hotels — National hospitality brand

Helped shape brand expression across multiple properties: a hotel brand indistinguishable from a contemporary art museum, on purpose.

Louisville Slugger — Heritage brand modernization

Worked on identity expression for one of the most recognizable sports brands in America without sanding off what made it iconic in the first place.

Omythic — #1 on Google for "branding agency"

Built the agency brand that now outranks paid ads and the map pack, purely on positioning, content, and conviction.

OOHology — 13 AIA Kentucky awards

Brand-as-environment: the agency HQ won thirteen architecture awards because the brand and the building were the same idea.

Questions

How long does a full brand engagement take?

Most full brand builds run 10 to 16 weeks, depending on complexity, stakeholder count, and how much existing material we have to work with.

Do you only do branding, or full identity rollout too?

Both. Strategy through final rollout: guidelines, templates, governance, launch. The handoff is the part most agencies fumble. We do not.

What size companies do you work with?

Funded startups through enterprise. The common thread is leadership that wants to stand for something specific, not everyone.

Do you work with existing in-house teams?

Often. Many engagements are structured as a partnership with an internal marketing or design team that needs senior strategic firepower.

Engagements are referral-led and selective. The work is delivered through Omythic, with Mark personally leading strategy and creative direction on every project. No pitching, no agency theater, no junior staff swap-out after the contract is signed.

Full brand builds typically start in the mid-five figures and scale with scope, market footprint, and rollout depth. Fractional and advisory engagements available for smaller scopes.
